The Historic Melrose Inn Bed and Breakfast was built in 1889 and is situated among the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, in the friendly town of Tryon, North Carolina.. Located within about an hour’s drive of Asheville and Charlotte, NC and Greenville, SC, Tryon offers small town hospitality within driving distance of the big cities, equestrian parks, golf courses, wineries, antique stores, lakes and rivers, and the mountains. We are mere minutes away from Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC), the Foothills Equestrian and Nature Center (FENC), Harmon Field and other sporting venues.
When you visit you will step into the past, with a modern twist. The owner is Marilyn Doheny, a world famous Contemporary Quilt Artist, author, judge, publisher, decorator, and gourmet chef! Marilyn fondly calls the Melrose Inn “The Old Dame” and has been bringing her back to life!
The Inn has been extensively remodeled, renovated, and intimately decorated. Your stay here will be friendly, memorable, comfortable, and inspiring. We serve coffee, tea, or juice every morning before breakfast! A hearty breakfast is served daily in the dining room and we invite you to dine on our large, social, breezy porch any time, for breakfast, lunch, cocktails, or dinner.
Give us a few hours notice and we will prepare a sumptuous meal for any time of day–you determine all of the delectables and courses, and we’ll prepare it just as you like it! We can even set you up with all meals for your entire stay, whether for a weekend, a week, or a month.
Marilyn Doheny furnished and decorated the Inn with hundreds of art objects from her personal collections. It is filled with beautiful, intriguing, and unusual pieces everywhere you look.
