A Valentine’s Day Hello and Dinner Info

Posted by on Jan 21, 2016 in Blog, Featured | 0 comments

A Chilly Hello From Marilyn’s Historic Melrose Inn! Winter has finally arrived in the Carolinas! My boots and socks have replaced sandals and flip-flops. They are near the front door – at the ready – should I need to venture outdoors. However, I wish all of us abundant, cozy, indoor activities and adventures. If you get cabin fever, drop by the Inn and have a complimentary cup of coffee, tea, or even a glass of wine by the fire. Oh, and bring a book if you like – it’s a wonderful place to read. One of my favorite things to do when the garden finally sleeps and all of the holiday parties have mellowed to memories, is to sit near a toasty fire, surrounded by a wealth of cook books and begin to pour over them, imagining the possibilities. I start crafting marvelous meals for your enjoyment in the coming year. It is a truly delightful time! I’m accompanied by my favorite music and a great bottle of wine:  I pour a glass and envision each of the individual, festive, meals together. On that topic, I am very excited to offer the first, Friends of the Chef event for 2016. It will be a Valentine’s Day Dinner featuring five courses – each with its own individual wine pairing. We will be showcasing wines from Mountain Brook Vineyard. The owners, Dennis and Miriam Lanahan, will present each wine individually, course by course, and share information about its history and creation. We will begin with an ala carte’ sip, tasting, describing the details and nuances of each wine. Then I will share a few words, letting you know why I selected the menu as I have, in order to compliment and highlight each wine’s delicious characteristics. Following this, each course will be served. The menu for Valentine’s Day 2016 is attached. Whether you wish to dine in pairs or gather as a group of friends, it promises to be a delightful, entertaining, and memorable evening. Reservations are essential – we are going to keep this “intimate.” After all, it is Valentine’s day! Melrose Inn is offering a special Valentine’s Day package.  An overnight B&B stay at the Melrose Inn & Valentine Dinner for Two. I’m looking forward to seeing you for the first official holiday of 2016!   Marilyn Doheny Owner & Chef   Marilyn’s Historic Melrose Inn 55 Melrose Avenue, Tryon, NC 28782 (828) 859-0234, www.melrose-inn.com,...

2016 — Looking Ahead to the New Year!

Posted by on Dec 21, 2015 in Blog, Featured | 0 comments

Looking Ahead to 2016 Here we are, entering the final days of 2015. As one year passes into another, I always ponder many hopes, dreams, and desires. Hopefully we will each take a few moments to find peace and inspiration as we reflect over our individual hopes and visions and dreams for 2015 compared to the realities the year brought forth. I make it a goal to find a peaceful appreciation for the way it all went, instead of how I wanted it to transpire. For myself, 2015 was active, challenging, expensive, full of changes, fast – indeed a blur – as I write this! I am more inclined and attracted to ponder the possibilities for 2016. My unaccomplished 2015 goals will become part of my 2016 list. They are decidedly behind schedule, thus they will be on the front burner! Drop by the Inn to socialize and I’ll share my “Happy List” for 2016 with you! In it I am looking forward to accomplishing my complete list for 2016: improvements, additions, and changes for the Inn, and for balancing my life. In the meantime – Consider treating yourself, friends, and loved ones to a delightful meal at The Melrose Inn. I’ll purchase the foods you want, prepare them just the way you like them, and clean it all up afterwards – You, friends, and family will simply enjoy! There are two first-of-the-year gourmet opportunities for 2016: New Year’s Eve Dinner, with menu attached and New Year’s Day Brunch, with menu attached I am taking more time to enjoy events and friends in 2016 – I look forward to the times our paths cross in 2016. Have a wonderful 2016! Marilyn Doheny Owner & Chef The Melrose Inn 55 Melrose Avenue, Tryon NC 28782 1 (828) 859-0234; info@melrose-inn.com; www.melrose-inn.com...
